What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychological method for treating emotional difficulties that are caused by disturbing life experiences, ranging from traumatic events such as accidents, assaults, illnesses, natural disasters to upsetting childhood experiences that have had a lasting effect on one's life. EMDR is a complex method that brings together elements from well-established theoretical orientations, including psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral and client-centered approaches. For many clients, EMDR provides more rapid relief than conventional therapies.
Although EMDR has been known to be extremely effective for people with traumatic injury, it has been proven to also be effective with patients who have made slow progress in the past, or who have not benefited from more traditional therapies when suffering with issues such as:
- Rape
- Psychological abuse
- Sexual disjunction
- Neglect
- Abandonment experiences
- Marital betrayals
- Difficult divorces
- Excessive anger
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Panic attacks
- Phobias
- Agoraphobia
- Stress management
- Personal & spiritual
EMDR therapy for anxiety and performance blocks is a non-evasive, rapid therapy that relieves anxiety phobias and fears such as shyness, fear of social situations, fear of public speaking, heights, doctors, dentist, etc. EMDR therapy has successfully helped people overcome self esteem issues, self limiting beliefs and performance blocks. If traditional therapy has not worked for you and/or you are suffering from any of the above situations or limitations, EMDR may be the right therapy for you.
